Daddy’s Big Girl
He buys you your first Barbie,
You play with it all day,
You braid her hair and ask him how
she looks,
You are his Barbie, But very pretty
he says
He carries you around till you fall
asleep,
And suddenly you grow up enough
To cheat him and pretend to sleep
Speak to your boyfriends late in the
night
He knows it all but his love for you
lets it go
He hold’s your little finger when
you learn to walk
Soon you want to leave it and run.
He yearns to stop you
But you want to listen to none
You go out there get your heart
broken
He’s still waiting there totally
unspoken,
He wants you to get up face the
world
He holds you till you can hold your
head high
Go back and look eye to eye.
You grow up and Color your hair,
Make tattoos and add despair,
He hates it you always knew
But you want to do it and not care.
He lets you be, Because he loves you
and cannot free.
It takes you a while to realize,
Then you set on a mission to make him
proud,
When you climb that stage, for a
performance or just a little speech,
That’s my daughter he screams,
There’s So much pride in his eyes
you can see
Time passes by and you continue to
make him proud’
He has given you the ability,
To make an identity in the crowd
Don’t forget how you grew, that’s
what has made you.
Nothing out of the womb you knew.
All the mistakes you made,
He still loves you so much for god’s
Sake.
He will never want to see you cry
So when you choose a man, make sure
he can Love you half as much
Today you want to walk the aisle
He is a happy man, just for a while,
The day you leave he’s going to
watch you grow again,
In the memories you left in photo
frames,
With that weary teary eye and an
almost chocked throat
He will make a prayer
To grant you all that he couldn't
To keep you happier than you were,
And god forbid if the need be,
To let you know he is here for you
with open arms
So you need not fear any other man’s
harms
Because the way your Daddy loved you
No other man can.
